Feedback from full treatment pitch

We presented our full and visual treatment pitch to our class, and were given feedback from our production coordinator and our teacher. This was to help us understand what other peoples perspective on our idea.

They said that overall it is a good idea, however there are too many elements and a bit too much going on. We only need three elements that should be:

  • Band performing w camera in hand = set up 1
  • Band doing things around the garage = set up 2
  • Shots in other set w tvs = set up 3

Luke said that he really liked the set up in the garage and that it was a good idea to go ahead with. He said that we should have a wide shot covering the performance element, so that we can cut back and forth between the VCR handheld shots and a wide shot of the whole band.
For the VCR set up two, with the band doing things around the garage - we need to have a very precise list so we and the actors know exactly what they are doing.
We need to change the current list we have as it doesn't match the genre at the moment. The things that we should have should make the band members look 'cool', an example Luke gave was having them playing retro computer games. These things need to not be tied in with the song or the lyrics at all and need to show elements of the 90s.

Instead of thinking of the three elements as certain parts in one video we should think of them as three separate videos, then when we edit we will weave between the three parts.
He said that we will need to think very carefully about who we cast as the lead singer as the video will heavily depend on this.

Targets:
These are four things that me and my group need to work on:
- Make a list of the specific things that the band members will be doing in set up 2.
- Think about only having three elements and what we need to get rid of as there is too much currently
- Think carefully about who to cast as our lead singer
- Reconsider the lighting in the basement, as natural lighting may not create the right mood
