We made a groupchat with our cast in order to easily communicate with them and arrange times for meetings and rehearsals.

Advanced lighting workshop
We had an advanced lighting work shop in order to develop our skills and knowledge, we looked at different types of lights as well as ways of arranging them.
The normal room lights are called house lights and they are the last amount of lighting that you can use when filming.
Matt started by showing us the redhead lights, which are the most commonly used lights for front and back lighting. These are very powerful, and so have a mesh covering over the front of it incase it blows, for safety.
To disperse the light from the redhead light a bit more you can put a trace over it, which is treated wax paper placed in front of the bulb. This stops any harsh shadows from being cast on the face and makes them a lot softer.
Three point lighting is a very commonly used lighting technique. It consists of:
- Key light lighting the subject from front/slightly to side
- Fill light the other side filling in the shadows on the face
- Back light (the light used for this is called a blonde and is a lot more powerful that redheads) This separates the subject from the background and created an outline of light around the subject
We also talked about different types of beauty lighting and how they can be used to look flattering on a person.
One technique we talked about was using just the blonde light from the back, and instead of using a front light you use a big piece of polystyrene to bounce the light onto the subject, this is flattering as it means the whole subject is lit equally instead of just concentrated light on one area.
Another way of diffusing light is using a soft box, which again makes it a lot softer and diffuses it equally across the whole subject and reduces hard shadows.
Gels are used to colour lights and therefore give a completely different effect. They can either be placed in front of the bulbs on lights such as redheads or can be used in florescent tubes, where a tube of gel is put around the bulb.

Casting Update - Backup choices
We finalised our backup choices for our cast, as the other backup choices we were not happy with and there were some issues. This is our new back up list:
We needed a new backup choices as our last ones didn't really fit the star image that we had in mind, and therefore we needed to think about what will look the best in the band and who will work together to create the star image we want.
Lead singer backup - Ashton Henry-Reid (A1 Cornhill)
Drummer backup - Fred Deer (A2 Cornhill)
Guitarist backup - Douglas Francis (A1 Cornhill)
Bass guitar backup - Tommy Mcclung (A2 Day House)
We gathered videos of these backup choices and made another casting video of just our backup choices.
This is so we can see how good they are at the instrument and also at acting, as this is what they will
need to do in the video.
This is the edited video:
Digital set design for set 1
This is the set disign that we did digitally to vidualise the props in more detail for set 1, this is so that we can get props accurate to what we want as it is hard to see what we want them to look like in sketches.
Digital set design for set 2
This is a set design that we made on photoshop for the second performance set. We did this to clearly visualise what the set will look like, as it is a lot clearer to see what props and sets look like than on a sketch. It makes it easier for the set designer to see the things that we need and will get the props as close to what we show them as possible.

Set Design Sketches
These are the final sketches for the design of set one, we made them a lot more detailed than the draft and included a lot more props and objects in the set.

Set design - First draft
This is a sketch that me and my group did to plan what we imagine the main set to look like:
We did this so we can visualise where we think everything can be and make sure we are on the same page of what we think it will look like. It is useful as sometimes we can have different ideas but cannot tell how each other are visualising it so therefore this helps us agree on the layout.
